Biografia de Celine Dion
Sus orígenes se remontan al campo canadiense francoparlante, desde donde salió como un rayo para presentarse en cuanto evento le permitiera mostrar su talento. Hoy día nadie discute su rol como una de las cantantes más significativas de los noventa, y quizás, como la encarnación de la música pop romántica.
De paso ha ganado Grammys estadounidenses, Junos canadienses y premios World Music europeos. En dos décadas pasó de una niña talento a una estrella que firma contratos multimillonarios.
La menor de 14 hermanos, empezó a cantar desde muy niña con su familia. Sus padres eran músicos y los fines de semana toda la familia cantaba en un club operado por los padres de Celine.
A los 12 años, Celine, compuso una canción en francés junto con su madre y hermano que fue enviada en una cinta a René Angélil, que entonces era representante de algunas figuras. El impacto de la grabación en René es legendario. Tal fue la pasión que sintió que decidió hipotecar su propia casa para poder financiar el disco debut de Celine.
La inversión dio frutos cuando en 1982 Celine ganó la medalla de oro en el festival Yamaha de Japón, además del premio a la mejor presentación. En 1983 fue la primera canadiense en recibir un disco de oro en Francia.
Ya en 1988 Celine tenía un nombre establecido en Quebec, la provincia francoparlante del Canadá. A los 22 años ya había recibido cuatro discos de platino, por sus cuatro álbumes. Ese mismo año ganó el festival Eurovisión, un espectáculo europeo de gran audiencia y del que salen muchas de las estrellas del pop del viejo continente. En 1991 firmó para Epic Records en los Estados Unidos y grabó el álbum "Unison" que fuera su primer disco en inglés. El álbum contenía "Where Does My Heart Beat Now" que llegó al número cuatro de las listas estadounidenses. Sin embargo hubo que esperar al lanzamiento de la película "La Bella y La Bestia" de los estudios Disney en la que cantaba el tema principal de la banda sonora. El tema no solo fue número uno, sino que además se llevó el Óscar a la Mejor Canción y el Grammy respectivo. Con la audiencia de habla inglesa en el bolsillo, se decidió lanzar el segundo disco en inglés titulado "Celine Dion". De él se extrajeron "Love Can Move Mountains," "Water From The Moon," "If You Asked Me To" y "Did You Give Enough Love". El disco fue multiplatino en Canadá y sirvió para una fiesta de premios Juno (premios canadienses de música) nunca vista.
El tercer álbum en lengua inglesa, " The Colour Of My Love", produjo el sencillo "Think Twice" que se convirtió en un éxito gigante en Inglaterra al extremo que el disco y la canción estuvieron 5 semanas consecutivas en el primer lugar de las listas, algo que no sucedía desde la época de los Beatles. La canción estuvo dos semanas más en el primer lugar y vendió cuatro millones de copias, una marca nueva para una mujer en ese país.
Ese mismo año, 1994, Celine Dion se casó con su representante, René Angélil de 52 años. La relación con Angélil fue creciendo a lo largo de los años y se fortaleció en la medida en que ambos se dieron cuenta que la relación trascendía lo estrictamente profesional
En marzo de 1996 lanza "Falling Into You" que sería el disco de mayor venta ese año. Fue número 1 en 11 países y se llevó los Grammys a Mejor Álbum Pop y Álbum del Año. A ese disco le siguió "Let's Talk About Love" un disco en el que Dion canta con otros famosos e interpreta temas de varios autores. Este disco salió el mismo día que la banda sonora de "Titanic" y en ambos venía la recordada "My Heart Will Go On" escrita por James Horner y que se convertiría en un éxito de proporciones descomunales.
Este disco vendió las mismas 27 millones de copias que llevaba vendidas el disco anterior y le anduvo cerca a la marca de la banda de sonido de la película que fue el disco de mayor venta de 1998. El tema de la película fue cantado en vivo en la ceremonia de entrega de los Oscares de 1998 y se llevó el Óscar a la Mejor Canción Original.
En 1998 graba "S'il suffisait d'aimer", su primer disco en francés en 8 años. Le siguió ese mismo año "These Are Special Times", una colección de 16 canciones para la época de Navidad.
El disco de grandes éxitos apareció en las tiendas con el nombre de "All The Way. . .A Decade Of Song", que incluyó 7 temas nuevos. Después de su presentación en Montreal para la noche de Año Nuevo, Dion se retiró temporalmente de los escenarios para dedicarse a ser madre y a cuidar de su esposo que por esos momentos estaba muy enfermo.
Luego del nacimiento de su hijo en 2001. Vino la preparación de "A New Day Has Come". El disco fue número 1 en 17 países. De este disco salió la idea de hacer un espectáculo que combinara música, canto, baile y teatro con lo último de la tecnología. Ese espectáculo arrancó en marzo de 2003 y se extenderá hasta el 2006 en el Ceasar's Palace de Las Vegas. |
